Creative Handbuilding with Clay (single session)

Important: This is not a pottery wheel course. In this workshop, all pieces are made exclusively by hand – without a pottery wheel.

This course is for anyone who wants to create ceramics freely and intuitively with their hands. Without a pottery wheel, but with various building techniques, individual pieces with their own unique design language are created.

In a relaxed atmosphere, I will show you step by step how to form, connect, and stabilize clay. No prior knowledge is required – the course is suitable for both beginners and those who want to deepen their skills.

This course is ideal for parents with children who want to get creative together. Working freely with clay is fun for all ages, fosters imagination, and creates valuable shared time. It's a good contrast to the omnipresent digitalization.

Forming & Creating – Realizing Your Own Idea

We work with classic hand-building techniques such as:

• Pinching technique
• Coiling technique (building rings)
• Slab technique
• Connecting and stabilizing individual parts

You can create vessels, bowls, small vases, candle holders, or free-form objects. I will support you in realizing your ideas and show you what matters in terms of proportion, wall thickness, and craftsmanship.

Surfaces & Details

Finally, you can refine your work:

• Adding textures and patterns
• Decorating with engobes (colored clay slips)
• Adding accents with stamps, stencils, or freehand drawing

This creates individual pieces with personal character.

After the Course

I will take care of the further processing for you:

• careful drying
• bisque firing
• glazing with a glaze of your choice
• glaze firing

Results & Collection

You can create several pieces and then decide which ones you want to have processed further. Two pieces will be fired and glazed.
Your finished ceramic pieces will be ready for collection after approximately 4–6 weeks.
Shipping is available for an additional €12. For deliveries outside Germany, prices may vary.
All pieces are food-safe and dishwasher-safe.
