Pottery Wheel Weekend Course (2 sessions)

Prerequisites: None, ideal for beginners

This two-day course is for anyone who wants to experience the pottery process more intensively – from clay preparation to refining their own pieces.
In a small, relaxed group, I will guide you step-by-step on the potter's wheel.
Whether you have some prior experience with clay or want to start completely new: Here you will have the space and time to experiment and deepen your skills.

Day 1: Throwing – the form takes shape

On the first day, we'll dive into working with the potter's wheel. You will learn:

1. Preparing clay (wedging, preparing, removing air)
2. Centering on the wheel
3. Opening and pulling up a form
4. Throwing simple vessels – e.g. bowls or mugs

Day 2: Trimming & Decorating

On the second day, we'll turn our attention to trimming – where you will refine the foot of your pieces and give them their final shape.
You can also work with slip – a colored clay surface applied with a brush, sponge, or stencil. This allows for initial individual designs before firing.

This course will give you a comprehensive practical understanding of the most important steps in throwing – ideal for anyone who wants more than just a first impression of working with clay.

After the course

I will take care of the further post-processing for you:

• careful drying
• bisque firing
• glazing with a glaze of your choice
• glaze firing

Optional: Glaze yourself

For an additional charge of €40, you can glaze your pieces yourself after bisque firing. This takes approx. 1 hour. We will arrange the date flexibly during the course.

Results & Pick-up

You can make several pieces and decide at the end which ones should be further processed. Two pieces will be fired and glazed.
Your finished ceramics will be ready for pick-up in approx. 4–6 weeks.
Shipping is available for an additional €12. For deliveries outside Germany, prices may vary.
All pieces are food-safe and dishwasher-safe.
